A. Battlefield Houston does laser tag differently. We don't do score sheets in a black-light smoke filled room. We play tactical mission-based games that has objectives that each TEAM must achieve. Games that are very similar to Call of Duty™ and other first player games, except the players have to get off the couch and get into the game.
Q. What do I wear?
A. We don't use black-light on the battlefield so white shirts and light colors do not glow in the dark. But we generally recommend darker colors to help you hide in the shadows if that matches your game style. For shoes, we prefer closed-toe shoes, but it isn't required. There is a lot of movement up and down the stairs and a lot of crawling can happen. Open-back shoes can come off easily, which can cause you to have to keep fussing with your shoes rather than enjoying the game. However, all we ask is that you do wear shoes to protect your toes and feet from injury. Boots are ok, but keep in mind you want comfort as you move around.
Q. Our school or function is doing a fundraiser and would like your donation.
A. As you might imagine, we get several requests a week for similar donations and just can't simply support them all. We can create a program that will enable you to get a percentage of sales on particular nights to help as a fundraising project. Give us a call at (713) 409-1990 to work on the details. Early promotion greatly helps with these types of events.
Q. How does the deposit work?
A. The deposit for a birthday or corporate event is generally around 30% of the total reservation and is non-refundable. We understand changes happen and will work with you on those changes. There isn't a charge to change the date or time if it is available for the move. We can issue you a gift card if you need to cancel your event and reschedule. For walk-in/open-play reservations, our deposit is 100%. You are basically pre-purchasing your ticket. These are non-refundable, but can be applied to a future time slot.
Q. Is the age limit really 8?
A. We recently changed it to 46" and above, but we still recommend 8 years old and older. Our battlefield wasn't designed for younger ages, and our games are very complicated. We don't offer refunds once the players get their wristbands. We recommend that you request a tour if you feel they may decide not to continue. Our guns weigh approimately 4.4 pounds and aren't easy to carry for some younger players.
Q. What time should we show up?
A. You must arrive 30 minutes before your actual play time. Waivers are required for ALL players completed electronically. Paper waivers will not work so please arrive early enough to complete the waiver either online or on our kiosks as you enter. The waivers are good for one year so you shouldn't have to do it again for a while. You can buy your games in 30 minute, 60 minute, 90 minute or 120 minute increments and you stay on the battlefield for that whole time. Other players may be leaving and joining as the games progress.
Q. Can I just walk in and play?
A. Yes, you can just walk in and play. You don't need a large group and you don't have to have a reservation. We call this "Open Play" and you can make a reservation online if you choose, but it isn't required. We can play over 50 people on the battlefield at a time, and our games start every 30 minutes. If you arrive when the battlefield is full, the wait is usually no longer than 45 minutes. Fridays and Saturdays are our busiest days, but don't let that discourage you. Usually 1 or 2 people can get in a game. Larger groups can get tough without a reservation.Q. Do I need a reservation?
A. We do have times where we are full to capacity. Having a reservation on the weekends, especially with larger groups of 8 or more will guarantee your time slot. However, we know that it is hard to make a reservation with a deposit when everyone is paying for themselves. Your welcome to come in and pre-purchase a later ticket and then go grab a bite to eat. Just remember that you have to be back in time for training.Q. Do I need to go through training? I've played laser tag before or I've played there before.
A. Yes, unless you have a Membership, you have to go through training each time before you play. If you have played laser tag at some other location, we are different style of play and training is very different. Training starts 15 minutes before your actual game time is scheduled to start.Q. Do you accept checks?
A. We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express) and cash. Checks are not accepted.Q. Is there something to do while I wait for my game time to start?
A. We have a game room of competitive video games such as air hockey, basketball, car racing and more. We also have great neighbors such as New York Pizzeria, Joe's Mesquite Grill, and Dirty Fingers.Q. I purchased a GroupOn. What else am I going to get charged when I get there?
A. The new GroupOns that we launched in Summer 2014 have sales tax included. Our older Groupons did not. When you redeem a new GroupOn, there shouldn't be any additional charges unless you decide you would like a drink or a snack.Q. I purchased a GroupOn and want to do a birthday party with it. How does that work?
A. The GroupOns are designed for walk-in open-play only and can not be used with a birthday party. Reservations are not allowed with a GroupOn and therefore not a good way to do a birthday party. However, if you decide to use it with a large group, please be patient on our busiest days such as Saturday and Sunday to find a time slot to fit your group size.Q. I really really need a reservation with this GroupOn. Why don't you support reservations with GroupOn?
A. We will not be able to make a reservation under any circumstance. A reservation requires a non-refundable deposit. Since a GroupOn is basically a full pre-purchase of a game, we can't take a partial payment from it. Also, the GroupOn database isn't connected to our system so we don't have a way of taking a GroupOn over the phone/internet without actually redeeming the GroupOn itself. The GroupOn company doesn't have a way of reversing a redemption. Our standard pricing is very low compared to other laser tag locations. If your group or event requires a reservation, it is best to book the event with us at our group or normal rates.Q. My GroupOn is about to expire and I can't make it in before it does. Can you extend the expiration date for me?
A. Unfortunately we don't extend the deal date. The value of your GroupOn never expires, but the deal does. We don't extend the dates under any circumstances and ask that you utilize the best deal going by redeeming your GroupOn before expiration. However, if you can't make it, the face value that you paid for your deal can still be applied on your next visit. Therefore a 2 for 1 deal will become a 1 for 1 deal after the expiration date.Q. GroupOns are sold out. Can I call and get the same deal directly with the business?
A. We have worked closely with our GroupOn partners to make this deal and reach customers that have not heard about us. As a part of that deal, we can not offer the same deal in-house outside of GroupOn. We consider GroupOn a great business partner and do not want to put that partnership at risk by violating that agreement. If a particular deal has sold out or is no longer available, you can either come in and pay our regular pricing or wait for the next GroupOn to come out next year. Our pricing is the lowest cost laser tag in the greater Houston area and the game play is like no other. You are already getting a great deal even at full price.Q. I am so excited about this business and want to invest. How do I do that?
